Slow The Bunny

The Bunny between Leckford and Longstock is one of Hampshire’s most photographed roads. It repeatedly narrows to cross the River Test on a series of picturesque bridges and offers delightful views of wildlife, fishing huts and beautiful Hampshire countryside. Proximity to the Test Way attracts walkers, local pedestrians and cyclists in droves.

Despite this, there are no speed restrictions on the Bunny. Traffic can and frequently does travel along here at speeds of up to 60 mph. The road is a cut through regularly used by delivery and construction traffic, time-trialling cyclists and, in better times, visitors to the Peat Spade Inn and Leckford Farm Shop.

Despite repeated pleas from residents and a number of local parish councils, Hampshire County Council consistently refuses to consider putting speed restrictions in place. Someone will need to be critically injured or even killed before the Bunny is deemed dangerous enough for them to take action.

That’s not right and it must not come to that. Please sign David Hall's petition today to put a 30mph speed limit on The Bunny. Let’s keep Hampshire beautiful - and save lives.
